New work January 2024: MANC Series

New year and new start to a series that has been long in the planning. These are companion pieces to the large 'MCR' that was excepted for the HOME MCR Open 2024 exhibition #MCROpen2024. The exhibition is a real 'people's' show and I'm incredibly chuffed and proud as someone born and brought up in the mighty metropolis to be showing at Tony Wilson Place. A brief timeline, born in Bolton (it was snowing and the ambulance couldn't get to Salford Royal, my Mum was Salford through and through, she wanted me born there). I was brought up in 'Ickle Ulton', as it is known locally but really called Little Hulton. Brief times in Wythenshaw, Tottington, Preston, Chorley, Hull, Bedfordshire and now back in Bolton. What a circular world it is sometimes.

Back to the art, all are for sale now but will also be shown together at the FaMAS (Falcon Mill Artist Studios BL1 8BL) Open on 10/11 May.

All are within wooden frames, measuring 40cm square, stands ensure they stay upright as they are best positioned on a ledge or windowsill in order to gain natural light. The pieces will look different through the day as the light changes, light can also be directed through them and cast colours onto the area behind. All difficult to describe and always best seen in the real and not the 'reel'.
